New free online course on Harm Reduction now available

The final version of the new Learn Addiction online course on Harm Reduction is now freely available at www.learnaddiction.eu. The course is offered in eight languages, doesn’t require registration or enrolment and can be completed at each learner’s own pace. It provides updated knowledge on Harm Reduction policies and practices, emerging substance-use trends, intervention strategies and the ethical, social and public-health challenges faced by professionals. After completing the course, users can obtain a digital certificate that can be added to their Europass documents.

The course combines interactive presentations with podcasts, videos, practical examples and AI-supported learning resources that allow users to explore the content through questions, summaries, mind maps and flashcards. Addiction professionals and other stakeholders are also invited to complete the platform’s open survey and help identify the subjects that should be addressed in future Learn Addiction courses.

Partners agree improvements to the Harm Reduction course following the testing phase

On 4 and 5 June 2025, representatives of the seven project organisations met in Berlin to review the results of the testing phase. The BETA course had been tested by 128 addiction professionals in seven countries, confirming that its content was relevant, useful and aligned with the training needs of professionals working in addiction and Harm Reduction.

Based on the feedback received, the partners agreed to check all links, videos and navigation elements; proofread and standardise terminology in every language; reduce text density; add more practical examples, case studies and country-specific resources; and incorporate additional interactive and audiovisual learning materials. These improvements will be included in the final version of the course.

BETA version of the new Harm Reduction course available for testing

The BETA version of a new free online course on Harm Reduction is now available on the Learn Addiction platform in English, Spanish, Slovenian, Romanian, Portuguese, Czech, French and German. The course provides addiction professionals with evidence-based knowledge, practical guidance and examples of Harm Reduction approaches that can be applied in different professional settings.

Addiction professionals are invited to access the course, test its content and share their feedback. The results of this testing process will help the project partners identify and implement the improvements needed before publishing the final version of the course.

Project partners meet in Madrid to define the new Harm Reduction course

On 6 and 7 February 2024, representatives of the seven organisations participating in the third phase of the Learn Addiction project met in Madrid to establish the structure, content and development guidelines for a new online course on Harm Reduction for addiction professionals.

Once the initial course content has been developed and translated, a BETA version will be published on the Learn Addiction platform in eight languages. Addiction professionals will be invited to test the course and provide feedback, which will be used to improve the content before the publication of the final version in February 2026.
